New Orleans, LA. The semi final series NBA games on Saturday night May 3rd, 2008 between Spurs (San Antonio) and Hornets (New Orleans) was delayed for about 19 minutes, because of the mishap occurred to Super Hugo, a Hornets’ mascot.
Once per season, Super Hugo performed a stunt uses a trampoline to slam a basketball, jumped through a large fired hoop. But, the fire on the hoop would not go out.
The bevy fire department came onto the court and put out the fire with fire extinguishers. Then they had to douse the fire with foam extinguishers for several times before it went out. But that was not enough, some players were slipped on the court because of the slimy substances put on it by the fireman. Because of that, the league officer called the Hornets, and canceled the rest halftime of activities.
However the mess on the court did not really influence the Hornets’ performance, proven by their victory 101-82 over the Spurs.
