The Indonesian film actor & director, Deddy Mizwar, said that Indonesian films ought to appear with the theme that was more heterogeneous because Indonesia has enormous cultural root as the inspiration in the film making.

“Our nation is rich of local culture and very dynamic. Indonesian films’ theme ought to be various in themes, not like recent Indonesian films that prominently raise the ghosts and sex comedies themes”, said Deddy in the discussion forum with the theme entitled “Look for the Face of Indonesian Films” at Sanggar Teater Populer, Tanah Abang, Jakarta.

This discussion forum was the ideas of actor Alex Komang and Slamet Raharjo from Sanggar Teater Populer. Besides Deddy Mizwar, there were other speakers such as Mira Lesmana, Arswendo Atmowiloto, and Tommy F Awuy.

Alex Komang said this discussion was appointed because lately the Indonesian films tend to use title of foreign language, has theme like Bollywood film, and also some of film has westernized.

This kind of discussion, according to Alex, will be held every month with different themes. The forum will not only discuss about the films and its problem, but also art and culture generally.
