The Fashion Image

Fashion mavens all say we need an image, but I don’t think you necessarily start out thinking nymphet, earth mother, ice maiden, street urchin, Faye Dunaway (in Network) or Scarlett O’Hara. As you experiment the way Carrie Donovan was talking about, you just inexorably gravitate to a kind of look that pleases you—an image—and so you begin to choose frilly over tweeds, somber over gaudy—or the other way around.
Looking around Cosmo I see all kinds of images . . . French schoolgirl, sassy-kid look, department-store proper—and I’m certain the owners just “osmosed” there. I hope you osmose to a good image. . . . A soccer shirt and dungarees seem so sexless to me—but whatever makes you happy!
