Yogyakarta is one of the must-seen places besides Bali, when you are visiting Indonesia. There are many tourism sites in this 3,185.80 km² province, such as historical sites (like temples, palaces, etc), arts & galleries, natural beaches, traditional dance performance, cheap shopping, agro-tourism, museums, pilgrim destination, etc.
There is a brief note about some temples exist in Indonesia.
- Prambanan is a complex of more than 250 temples in different sizes. This cultural site is the beautiful temple (look at the picture above!) which is one of the largest Hindu temples in south-east Asia, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the world.
- Borobudur Temple. This is the biggest Buddha temple in the world, a glorious legacy of 9th century.
- Tara Temple is the oldest heritage of Buddhism in Yogyakarta, was built in 778 AD. This temple is full of beautiful relieves on its surface.
- Gampingan Temple is another Hinduism legacy in Yogyakarta was found in 1995 incidentally by the brick maker in the village in incomplete condition. The archaeologists estimated that the temple was built in 730 – 850 AD. Even though the temple is not as splendorous as Prambanan, but this temple is rich of enchant relieves.
- Gebang Temple. There is no sufficient explanation about this temple except that this temple is one of the Hinduism heritages located in Yogyakarta, 5.25m x 5.25m width and 7.75m height in shape.

- Pawon Temple is a trilogy temple among Borobudur and Mendut Temples. It is located 1.5km west of Mendut Temple and in the east direction of Borobudur Temple.
- Plaosan Temple is the twin temple in Yogyakarta, not so far from Prambanan Temples. The architecture is likely a combination of Hinduism and Buddhism.
