If You Have a Computer, Clean Out Your Files.

Go through your entire set of documents and delete what you don’t need; if you use a hard-disk drive, take files off the hard disk and put them on floppies.
As you go through each file, try to remember the moment you created it, what it meant to you, how meaningful it was to you. But don’t hold on to something that you know you’re never going to use again. Or, if you are attached to it, make a hard copy of a document and then delete it.
If your files are reasonably up to date and you don’t need to do any housekeeping, learn a new program. Add something to your repertoire. See if you can raise your level of expertise a notch.
If you’ve never used a computer, find out how one works. Sit down at a keyboard with someone who knows her way around and practice some simple applications.
Or, if you’re intimidated by computers, ask the young son or daughter of a friend to teach you a computer game or show you a graphic arts program that is fun and exciting. Sometimes the way into the world of computers is easier than you think.
