Who is Madame Tussauds?

When I was blog walking about several days ago, I have read not less than three times this strange name: Madame Tussauds. I read it on a fashion and make up criticisms blogs

That time I wonder, who she is. Is she an actress or politician or business woman or what else? Am I so socially awkward that I didn’t know anything is happening?
In order to satisfy my eager-to-know, I immediately went to Google and types the words… and finally I knew that Madame Tussauds is a famous wax sculptures museum in London and recently has several branches in Amsterdam, Las Vegas, New York City, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Washington DC, with additional locations scheduled to open in Berlin in July 2008 and Hollywood in 2009.
Why is it so famous? Because it has many wax sculptures of famous people such as David Beckham, Martina Hingis, Michael Jordan, Jimi Hendrix, Spice Girls, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Woody Allen, Harrison Ford, Mahatma Gandhi, Adolf Hitler, Princes Diana, Ernest Hemingway, Abraham Lincoln, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and many world’s famous people. All the wax sculptures are so lively like the real human. Take a look at the sculpture of Shakespeare beside! It is so live, isn’t it?
The first wax museum in London was founded in 1835 by Marie Tussaud, a wax sculptor who learn wax modeling from Dr. Philippe Curtius, where her mother worked for him as a house keeper. Her hard work and perseverance resulting in thousands dollars and big brand of Madame Tussauds.
